If I understand it the Japanese term wabi-sabi describes something that is enhanced imperfectly by time; I would like to think what I photograph fits in with this aesthetic. I am interested in forms in nature mainly and man-made things with an odd sense of place outside the ordinary.
To talk a little about gear I use a Hasselblad 500C/M with an 80mm planar and 150mm sonnar and a Leica M2 with a 50mm Summicron only, although have used other combinations in the past obviously this is what I find works for me. I shoot Ilford Delta and Kodak Portra.
I admire the work of photographers Rinko Kawauchi, Ragnar Axelsson, Michael Kenna, Syoin Kajii, Takashi Amano, Stephen Shore, Anton Corbijn and Joel Meyerowitz.
Thanks for reading and looking, Neil.
